I Found Salvation In Hells Half Acre
Traveling along this stretch of US 20 in Wyoming almost got to the point of unbearable. Towns became even scarcer then in Nebraska. I went 60 mile stretches before reaching anything that resembled civilization. I decided it best to break up the monotony of this desolate and flat landscape to see a very bizarre change in it. Its called “Hells Half Acre!”
Right in the middle of nothing there appears a stretch of land that’s all twisted and deformed and gnarly. I don’t know how it was formed, but it’s the strangest thing you’ll ever lay your eyes on.
I pulled off down this little turn which takes you in front of this abandoned motel. Its all dilapidated and falling down (a very common site in on this stretch of road), once again you would swear it was out of a horror movie. My imagination tends to fly away with sites like this. The wind was blowing hard from the west and structure creaked and moaned in its way. I was the only one at this scenic overlook and I wouldn’t have been surprised if some one were to jump out and kill me. I looked out over the horizon as the sun started its downward decent. I gave myself goose bumps thinking of all the miss happenings that could have taken place here.
Spooked out by the ever creaking abandoned motel I thought it best to get a move on to no where. I started the engine of my car and sat there thinking about my life and what it was I was doing. Then for no particular reason, I turned on the radio. All I got was a blast of static, but what was I expecting, I was in the middle of nothing. I then decided to hit the auto seek button on my radio, in hopes that it would find something. The numbers flew around the AM dial not once but twice. I had all but given up hope when it stop, on AM 9600, all of the sudden a voice came on and said “friends are you tired of waking up and going through all the motions of the day? I nodded my head and thought to my self yeah. The voice continued, “Friends are you feeling depressed? Like every day you’ve just lived another day for the sake of living? Do feel exhausted at the end of your day, even though you haven’t done anything? Well that’s just no way to live! Friends, let me tell you that, that is no way to live. You are missing something and you know it! I want to tell you about a man who struggled in life and never gave up! He was always fighting to stay on top even when people were trying to put him down. He never gave up loving and guess what, he did it all for you! I want to tell you about Jesus Christ!”
Now normally I would have made fun of this guy and say “Hay, lets here it for the J.C. Man!” Not this time, this guy was making to much sense, and I was sitting in “Hells Half Acre!” It blew me away, it was just way too much of a coincidence! Could God be giving me some sort of divine message, or am I just more open to interpretation?

My insight on this radio station:
You are in the most remote part of the country in probably one of the weirdest looking surroundings and you're thinking exactly what you're thinking, that you might get killed here and it would probably be okay because you're expecting it. The people at the radio station know that they only reach a certain area and part of that area is this hellish half acre that you're at. So, they promote Christianity because they know you'll think it's too coincidental to be a coincidence and you'll listen because you think it is divine intervention. So, you've just got some smart christian missionaries trying to further spread Christianity. But, then again, maybe it is divine intervention.
